The presentation was followed with questions and answers.

PFLAG Rocky Mount worked with PFLAG National against this legislation. It is our hope to educate and inform the public. It was important to make sure our Straight Allies are aware what is going on. There are citizens that would not normally go to vote at a primary election that do not realize what is going on. This amendment to our constitution passed because a lot of people did not realize the affect it would have on many families. If there had been more time surely the outcome would not have been so bleak. Saying that we did come out stronger and more NC citizens did hear our message.

Fundraising for year 2012.
The response from supporters in year 2011 was great and we thank you all.

A fundraising event in March featuring speaker the Reverend Jimmy Creech, author of Adams Gift'

Applebees flapjack breakfast

Membership: Our new fiscal year will begin October 1, 2012. New members were added last year and we hope to see more this year.

The chapter becomes more active year by year. As we are ending this year we look forward to an active 2013 year, it is our hope to make a difference in making our communities a better place.

PFLAG Rocky Mount stepped out to build our support and visibility in our surrounding communities in 2012. Listed below are some of the events held throughout the year.

March 2012
Introducing an 'Evening with Jimmy Creech' was Brent Childers from Faith In America. The event was a great success. The Reverend Creech's message was inspiring, moving and well received. If you have not read 'Adam's Gift' by Reverend Creech it is enlightening and moving.

Th Applebees' Flapjack Breakfast was a success this year. We see new faces each year as well as old friends this day.
We continue networking and offering support and education to other organizations that deal with social and mental needs of communities surrounding our city.

NC Safe School Anti-Bullying Legislation. PFLAG Rocky Mount continues to monitor school compliance. We encourage educators, parents and friends to get involved and let us know if you need information. As of now there has not been much done to put serious policies in the schools in the surrounding counties school systems.

We continue networking and offering support and education to other organizations that deal with social and mental needs of communities surrounding our city.

Contributions may be sent anytime to the chapter's Rocky Mount P.O. Box per this website. All contributions are used to further the chapter's mission of promoting understanding through support, education and advocacy. If you are interested in supporting a specific event specify along with donation.

Thanks for the support of all our friends
