[Safe school issues for all states (K-12) - including abstinence only education, cyber bullying and anti-harassment and bully policies or legislation]
Suzanne joined PFLAG National in October of 2007. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison, with a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, Suzanne worked as a lobbyist for a variety of non-profits including Common Cause, Stand for Children and the Center for Science in the Public Interest. During her sabbatical to stay at home with her children she started volunteering at the Metro DC PFLAG chapter.
As the Senior Safe Schools Coordinator, Suzanne is the point person for PFLAG chapters all over the country on how to work in schools to create safe learning environments for all students. Through the “Train the Trainer” program she teaches PFLAG volunteers to learn how to fully engage their school and communities in the important work of changing school culture. Other workshops that she presents to parents, as well as school personnel, are on the need for inclusive anti-harassment policies, how to stop anti-gay bullying (including cyber bullying), and the importance of comprehensive sexuality education.
