Chapter members become involved in fighting the NC Amendment 1
Our next meeting will be Feb. 6 at 7:30 at the Educational building of Providence Baptist Church.
We will include support, education and advocacy on our agenda
If time permits we will view the video "Coming Out, Coming In"
At our January meeting we had one of members tell us about his plan to bring the play reading "8" to our area. He is working with Flat Rock Playhouse and Blue Ridge College. We all agreed to help him at various tasks when the time comes. Just found out it will be April 10.
Two of our members are involved in working with a local community group to fight against Amendment 1. The group has met 3 times and has grown to about 50 people representing various faith groups and individuals who have a passion to defeat this amendment.
PFLAG is a group of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG welcomes the participation and support of all who share in, and hope to realize this vision.
Our Mission. PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
